writing consultations
{ }
I meet with writers of all levels one-on-one to discuss works in progress.
Hour-long sessions are tailored to the needs of the client and the project, from the idea stage to final edits. Typically those I meet with are in the middle of a piece of writing, for which we choose an area of focus (or multiple) such as theme, structure, form, voice, style, more — but there are many other possibilities for how we may work together!
Prior to moving to private consulting, I spent four years at the Writing Center at Columbia University, where I supported Masters and PhD candidates in the Social Work School with their papers for coursework as well as for professional submissions, application essays and personal statements, policy memos, journal reflections, op-eds, and dissertations. One student and I met weekly to craft the text for their artist portfolio; it helped them gain admission to Parsons, SVA, and other prestigious MFA programs. I have broad range and would love to see what you're working on.
Regardless of where you are in your writing journey, my hope is to hold the space and provide guidance for you to find the strongest, truest writer in you.
If you are a parent of a young writer who would benefit from individual attention, please see my extensive experience in classrooms with middle/high school/college students.
Lastly and least importantly, I hold a BA in English from Duke, an MS in Journalism with a concentration in Creative Nonfiction from Northwestern, and an MFA in Writing from Pratt Institute.
Rates start at $150/hr with packages available; please visit my contact page for booking.
